“The longer you hang in there, the greater the chance that something will happen in your favor. No matter how hard it seems, the longer you persist, the more likely your success.”

We’ve all been through times in our businesses and careers that just make us wonder “what is the point of this struggle?” But without fail, the more you persist, the closer you get to finding that answer.

“If you are going to be successful, you need to give up the phrase, “I can’t” & all of its cousins, such as “I wish I were able to.”

Some phrases that will also be scrapped once you rid yourself of these are “I wish I would have” and “I wonder what would have happened if…” The use of these phrases only comes from over-thinking anyway; haven’t you ever read Michael Masterson’s Ready, Fire, Aim?

“There have been many people whom I have admired, emulated and even modeled parts of my life after. I study how they do things, and then I go through a period of ‘trying on’ those same thinking patterns and behaviors. After a while, what is not essentially me falls away while the useful parts remain.”

I think this quote is extremely useful for entrepreneurs. As independent and head-strong as we may be, it’s important to remember how much we can learn from those around us. Take whatever valuable lessons you can from observing and interacting with people you admire.

“Almost by force of habit, successful people simply do more. As a result, they experience not only greater financial rewards for their extra efforts but also a personal transformation, becoming more self-confident, more self-reliant, and more influential with those around them.”

This is just proof of how cyclical success is-confidence and good habits make you successful, and success makes you more confident and influential. You just have to get the cycle started and you’re on a great path!

“Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.”

Can you imagine how stagnant your progress would be if you only focused on your failures? It might be a bit of a stretch to expect never to have negative days, but just remember you’re only moving forward when you’re positive.

“All of the results you are currently experiencing in your life are absolutely perfect for you. This includes your career, personal relationships and financial status.”

Sometimes we all need to hear this. Especially when the results we’re seeing aren’t ideal. It’s all meant to be.

“Working with people from all walks of life, from full-time moms to CEOs at large companies, I’ve distilled many universal truths about success. There’s a secret I’ve learned that works quite well at helping you to achieve what you want: Decide what you want.”

There’s not much else that can be said here; you have to set goals to achieve them.

“You Need Goals that Stretch You”

Once you have reached goals you have set for yourself, keep reaching for more. There’s no more successful feeling than looking back and remembering how much you pushed yourself.

“No one becomes an expert in a new career overnight, even if you are coming from another career where you were established and experienced.”

I think even those who do call themselves “experts” always have more to learn. It’s good for entrepreneurs to keep this in mind, especially if you’ve worked in a more stable career field before.

“The world doesn’t pay you for what you know; it pays you for what you do.”

This goes along with my previous comment on being an “expert.” The whole point of being good at something or knowing a lot about a topic is actually doing the thing which you’ve mastered. True experts never stop “knowing” because they never stop “doing.”

“Write your goals down in detail and read your list of goals every day. Some goals may entail a list of shorter goals. Losing a lot of weight, for example, should include mini-goals, such as 10-pound milestones. This will keep your subconscious mind focused on what you want step by step.”

This quote is more of an instruction for a task that really can be helpful. If you have a lot of large goals you want to achieve, try out this method and see if it helps!

“When you are happy doing what you love, you’ve already won.”

Isn’t this the truth? You’ll know once you find the thing you’re meant to do, and that’s success in itself.

“If you are not moving closer to what you want, you probably aren’t doing enough asking. And you’re probably not asking the single most important question that can help you achieve a higher level of success and personal fulfillment: How am I doing?”

How will you know your progress if you’re not asking those around you for their feedback? No matter who you are, a CEO or a part-time staff member, you can always improve by asking those around you how you can be better.

“A real leader respects everyone, and gives them the space to realize their mistakes.”

The best leading is done by those who are good followers and good listeners.

“Success consists of going from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

It’s much more easily said than done, but if you decide to see small successes in each failure, you’ll learn more and be better prepared for the future. Be enthusiastic even about failure, because it means another chance to succeed.

“Whenever you ask anyone for anything, remember the following: SWSWSWSW, which stands for “some will, some won’t; so what—someone’s waiting.” Some people are going to say yes, and some are going to say no. So what! Out there somewhere, someone is waiting for you and your ideas. It is simply a numbers game. You have to keep asking until you get a yes.”

Some will, some won’t; so what-someone’s waiting. A shorthand to remember with each opportunity and a great way to ensure you’re always moving forward.
